Any football coaching manual will be incomplete without the mention of Valeriy Lobanovskyi and his revolutionary tactics. Regarded as one of the greatest coaches of all time, Lobanovskyi helped Dynamo Kyiv dominate Soviet football in the 1970s and 1980s, winning as many as eight league titles.
After the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, the Kyiv giants literally owned domestic football in the newly formed country, winning five successive Ukrainian league titles with Lobanovskyi at the helm. They also won a host of other titles, including three continental crowns. Source: FIFA.
